Corrective Surgery

Breast Revision surgery generally applies to anyone desiring further or secondary surgery sometime after prior surgery.

Surgery of this nature may be to treat an acute problem or something of a more chronic nature.

Situations of an acute nature generally are more rapidly developing. It is always best to seek care from your original plastic surgeon. Examples of this sort of problem would include:

a developing hematoma or seroma (swelling of the breast)
emerging wound infection
poor blood flow to part of the breast skin
threatened exposure of a breast implant

More common issues, of a more chronic nature:

breast capsule contracture (firmness around an implant)
asymmetry
desire for change in implant size
development of ptosis (see other educational page for description)
poor surgical scar formation
flipped or spun breast implant
desire to change from saline to silicone implants
ruptured implant

If you are desiring Dr. Baeke to assist you with any of these issues, it will expedite the process if you are able to provide a timeline of dates/places you had every breast surgery; name of the surgeon and any complication. If you can provide copies of any old surgical records (Op Report; and implant identification cards) that is helpful as well.
